Obituary for Ronald Hanisch

Ronald Hanisch
Ronald M. Hanisch, 80 of Oakhurst, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from complications caused by heart and lung disease.
Mr. Hanisch was born on December 22, 1934 to Gertrude and Frank Hanisch of Long Branch, where he grew up with his elder brothers Frank and Jim, and twin, brother Paul. He attended Long Branch High School, where he was co-captain of his basketball team and also excelled in track and field. He later served in the U.S. Army Honor Guard, stationed in Germany from 1954 to 1956. After earning a teaching degree at Trenton State College, Mr. Hanisch enjoyed a long career teaching and supervising Industrial Arts and Home Economics at Monmouth Regional High School in Tinton Falls, where he taught mechanical drawing and championed vocational education, working with the business community to develop career opportunities for students. He also served as President and Executive Secretary of the New Jersey Vocational Education Association, and completed a Master’s Degree and doctoral work at Rutgers University. He combined his knowledge of carpentry and architecture to design both his residence in Oakhurst and his family vacation home in Mt. Vernon, Maine.
Mr. Hanisch was a devoted husband, father, uncle and grandfather, loved and regarded for his quick wit and good natured humor, his sensible approach to life’s challenges, and his respect for his fellow man. He was a parishioner at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch and a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #335, Long Branch. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Hanisch; brother, Paul Hanisch, daughter, Melinda Hanisch McCloskey, son-in-law, James McCloskey, and grandchildren, Brendan and Jonathan McCloskey.
