Judy,Bobby, Keith, Mark, Brett and family, Please accept my sincere condolences on Bob's passing. Bob and I met in the 5th grade in Wolfhill school, it was a rough meeting but grew into a lifelong friendship that included our entire families.Bob's father asked me to rebuild his Greymarine boat engine, when I was only 14, it worked out OK. Back then friendships were a family thing. I remember bumming around the river with Bob and having many mishaps and a lot of fun with boats. Bob's halloween coustume one year gave my mother so much pleasure remebering it, she would say, "that Bobby Brummer sure made a good looking girl." The respect he showed my parents, right up until they passed was very genuine , he would stop and talk with my father for hours, (thats where he was Judy.)In later years our friendship grew into an older guy thing between two friends who had been in Oceanport since it was nothing but catails and mudflats, with an RFD address from Long Branch with no politics. We drove gokarts and junkers on the mudflats, boats and raceboats on the river, with no marine police. Bob had his two seat, porthole T'Bird and I had a 3 ton Caddy convertible, now we are back to basics both driving pickup trucks. If you needed anything Bob was there, I remember saying I needed some wood, when we were heating with a wood stove, I came home from work to find my side yard full of 4 ft diameter logs, 2 truckloads, Bob had delivered. I remember thinking what the hell am I going to do with this stuff, I'm not Paul Bunyun. I will miss him driving around Oceanport and stopping for a chat. Can you imagine with everything today being so temporary and transient, that Bob and I have been friends for over 60 years, that speaks to Bob's character and the type of person he was. He was a very good friend to me and the Joyces. He was a genuine good guy and will be missed.....Walter Joyce
