Robert F. Brummer, 71, of Oceanport, loving and devoted husband, father, gramdfather, friend and mentor died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
Born in Bronx, NY he lived in Oceanport for the past 63 years. Bob joined the Port-au-Peck Chemical Hose Company in Oceanport in 1966 where he served as captain in 1971 and was an exempt member as well as a life member. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Bob knew they were in the company of someone very special.
Bob and his wife Judy started Brummer's Tree Service in 1970 and their 4 sons joined in to make the business complete. He leaves a legacy of friendship and love beyond comprehension. Everyone he knew held a special place in his heart. He cherished his time spent with his 4 beautiful granddaughters. He had a huge heart and loving animals was a big part of his life. Bob was an avid fisherman and you could always find him telling “fish tales”, cruising by the beach or standing on the jetty. He was an extremely generous man and you could say “he'd give you the shirt off his back” literally. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he was a father figure to so many people and that his adventurous life leaves a lot of stories to be passed on. He was loved by everyone.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Lydia Schwarz Brummer and his sister, Joan Brummer Slattery.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Judy Ambrose Brummer; 4 sons, Bobby and his wife Sarah, Keith and his wife Erica, Mark and his wife Elizabeth and Brett and his fiancé Jennifer Goss; his sister, Barbara Brummer Bell and his 4 granddaughters, Victoria, Alexandra, Giselle and Eva Brummer as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 pm Friday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
