Obituary for Gerard A "Gerry" Gebrian

Gerard A. Gebrian, 68, of Monmouth Beach went to heaven on August 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. “Family” was very important to Gerry. He was born in Bayonne and moved to Monmouth Beach in 1976. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Marist High School both in Bayonne and Jersey City State College and Seton Hall University.

Gerry taught mathematics for 44 years in Union Hill High School in Union City before retiring in December of 2010. He enjoyed his students and felt fulfilled when they returned to visit him to share their accomplishments and thank him for his contributions to their success.

Gerry was a gentle and selfless man who will always be remembered as one who was more concerned about others’ welfare rather than his own. He was respected and loved by those who knew him. Although Gerry will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, he will never be forgotten.

Gerry was a diehard Yankees fan. He enjoyed listening to music from the past, doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku and reminiscing about his earlier days as an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed his home and family and hosted large family dinners so everyone could share their stories and their version of each remembrance. He received great satisfaction from mowing the lawn and tending his garden. Gerry was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach and looked forward to his lunches with the members of the Crab Shack.

Gerry was looking forward to spending beach time with his grandson, James, and teaching him how to crab-James loved his grandfather “G”.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, John and Eileen (Pustay) Gebrian, and his brother, John.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Denise; his ever loving daughter, Dana and her husband, Joe Noon and their son, James of Monmouth Beach; his brother, Bob Gebrian of New Orleans; his sister, Eileen and brother-in-law Tim Barberich of Concord, Massachusetts, and brothers-in-law, Bruce and Sandy Jordan of Maryland; Stuart and Susan Jordan of Monmouth Beach, Dan Jordan of Brooklyn and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday from 3-8 pm at the Church of the Precious Blood, 72 Riverdale Avenue in Monmouth Beach. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am also in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Gerry’s name.
