William “Bill” Schriefer, of Ocean Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank with his wife, Mildred, and daughter, Karen by his side. Bill was born in New Dorp Beach, Staten Island, NY and moved to Lakewood, NJ in 2001. He and his wife later moved to Ocean Township, NJ to be near their children and grandchildren.
Bill was a licensed NY & NJ Real Estate broker who owned and operated A1 Better Living Realty, Red Bank, NJ for 40 years and was still active with his agency until his passing.
A graduate of New Dorp High School, Staten Island, New York, Bill was a tremendous sports enthusiast. One of his favorite past times was to watch the NY Jets and Mets play. In his younger years, Bill coached many youth baseball teams to local championships through his knowledge of the game and his great enthusiasm. He loved the outdoors, especially the beach and enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and spending time at the boardwalk. He was always excited to attend his grandson Christopher's soccer matches and share his love of animals with his grandson, Daniel. He loved animals so much that in fact his daughter's two dogs would practically knock him down when he entered the room, knowing he would always sneak them a forbidden treat - even though he strongly denied ever doing so. In his later years, Bill took to song writing as another one of his hobbies.
Bill was often the center of attention at gatherings recounting funny stories of his past adventures. He was so engaging that he could keep people laughing for hours on end.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Schriefer, his daughter and son in law, Karen and Daniel Catizone and his two wonderful grandsons, Daniel and Christopher Catizone. He was predeceased by his son James.
In respect to Bill's wishes, a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:15 am on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1201 Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park. Immediately after, relatives and friends may pay their respects at the home of Karen and Dan Catizone, 2 Wemrock Drive, Ocean, N.J. 732-693-5070. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakhurst First Aid Squad, 72 Larkin Place, P.O. Box 909, Oakhurst, New Jersey 07755.
