Obituary for Stephen S. Giddio

Stephen S. Giddio, of Long Branch, passed away on December 16, 2014, after a brief illness. He is survived by a brother, Joseph Giddio of Long Branch; daughters, Tobie Giddio (Peter) of Manhattan, Lorrie Giddio (Christianne) of Bethlehem, PA and Dina Giddio of Long Branch; former wife, Betty (Daverio) Giddio of Lambertville. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Praise Giddio Belsky of Manhattan. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Grace Giddio and a brother, Carl Giddio.
Stephen was born on the Lower East Side of New York City and retained a fondness for Manhattan throughout his life. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1960, where he was a founding father of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. He had residences in Sea Bright and Atlantic Highlands, NJ, Manhattan, and San Jose, Costa Rica, and loved spending time with his friends and family in each of these locations.
Stephen entered the field of real estate in the 1970s and was responsible for building a number of residential and commercial properties throughout New Jersey. He held several posts in Long Branch city government during the 1970s, including Director of Public Works. Stephen was also a restaurateur who opened and managed the Bullpen and the Sea Loft in Long Branch.
In his spare time, Stephen loved traveling to Costa Rica, listening to the music of the 1950s and in particular Frank Sinatra, taking family and friends out to his favorite restaurants in New York and New Jersey, and treating his beloved granddaughter, Praise, to Broadway shows. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, and enjoyed watching their games both on television and in person.
