Rocco Palaia, 86, of West Long Branch, died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

He was born in Girifalco, Italy and came to Long Branch in 1967 before moving to West Long Branch 42 years ago.

He was a sheet metal fabricator at Franklin Sheet Metal in Ocean Grove for 20 years before retiring in 2001. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish (Holy Trinity Church) in Long Branch and was in the Italian Army.



He was predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Rosina Palaia and his brother, Saverio Palaia.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Josephine Manno Palaia; his children, Rosanna and her husband Joseph Ciaglia of Aberdeen and Frank and his wife Michele Palaia of West Long Branch; brother, Frank Palaia and 2 sisters, Catherine Mazzei and Rosina Marinaro all of Oceanport; sister-in-law, Catherine Palaia; 4 grandchildren, Christina, Giovanni, Gianna and Ava and many nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 5-9 pm Friday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 8:30 am Saturday from the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
