Robert Thomann born October 14, 1925 in Passaic, NJ died November 24, 2012. Bob and his wife Doris were long time residents of Teaneck, NJ, where they were active members of the community. They are former residents of Newark, DE and Dunwoody ,GA and currently of Ocean Twsp, NJ. Bob was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (currently NJIT) where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. He had a long career with Walter Kiddie Inc. where he managed Metallurgic, Catalyst and Chemical laboratories. Bob later worked for Morton Thiokol Inc. Elkton, MD where he returned to his passion for aerospace working on the Apollo program. Bob holds several joint U.S. patents for his work with liquid fire extinguishers and plating at high temperature with rocket engines.



Bob had a passion for anything to do with flight. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying out of Teterboro airport with his Sunday morning breakfast club. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and had a bit of wanderlust traveling both the US and Europe.



He is survived by his wife Doris Erskine Thomann, their son Robert Thomann his wife Paula, daughter Dale Ostrowsky, her husband Elias, four grandchildren, Michael and Sandra Thomann, Lauren Ostrowsky, Ariel Ostrowsky her husband Nicholas Martinelli and their two children.







A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 2pm at Fiore Funeral Home in West Long Branch.
