Robert Halper, 78, of Ocean Township, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch.
He was born in New York City and lived in the Bronx moved to Oceanport in 1971 and then to Ocean in 1988.
He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korea War and worked at the United Nations in Manhattan for over 30 years retiring in 1987.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Spinicchia Halper in 1986, his parents, Frank and Theresa Fiegl Halper and his brother, Frank Halper.
Surviving are his wife, Xiang-Min Li; his children, Robert and his wife Caryn of Oceanport, Frank and his wife Mary of Eatontown, John and his wife Diane of Flanders, Teresa and her husband Don Hahn of Oak Ridge, Nicholas and his wife Robin of West Long Branch, Maria Farrington and her fiancé Mark Zabielski of Churchville, PA and George and his wife Marlene of Miramar, FL; step-son, Li Tao and his wife Yankun of China; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Wednesday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral service 11 am Thursday at the funeral home followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his name be made to the American Cancer Society
