Obituary for Mary C. McGarry

Mary C.  McGarry
Mary C. McGarry, of Long Branch, died on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the age of 95.
She was born in New York City and lived in Astoria and Highlands for many years before moving to Long Branch 5 years ago.
She taught religious education at and was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Highlands She was very active in the Democratic party and was a former Ambassador to the Governor of New Jersey. She served as a councilwoman, a member of the Planning Board, worked the elections and active in the VFW Post #6902, all of Highlands. She was also a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank for 18 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; her son, Ronald and his wife Randa; son, John; son-in-law, John Chulsky; parents, Jerome and Teresa Borro and a sister and brother, Sylvia and Buddy Borro. She sorely missed her dog, Max.
Surviving are her daughters, Sheila and her husband Earl Wunderlich of Omaha, NE, Marie Mazzochi of New York and Christine Chulsky of Long Branch; 3 grandchildren, Christine Harpole (Sean); Dan Wunderlich (Erica) and Kristopher Chulsky; 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony (Tony), David and Brianna Wunderlich; sister-in-law, Helen O’Brien; cousin, Leslie Rohrig and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 am Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Highlands. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery in Leonardo. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Long Branch First Aid Squad or Right to Life groups.
