Mary L. Knighton, 69, of Lakewood, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

She was born in Fanwood and lived in Germany, Oceanport, Augusta, GA and Long Branch before moving to Lakewood in 1999.

She was a secretary at the chaplain's office at Fort Monmouth retiring in 1994 after 20 years. Since retiring, she has worked at Terry Gribben's Transcribing in Monmouth Beach.



She was predeceased by her parents, Alva and Louise Comer and a brother, Joseph Comer.

Surviving are her children, Peggy Warren and her husband Stephen of West Long Branch, Rachel Ammaturo and her husband Peter of Ocean, Justin and Charlotte Knighton both of Lakewood and by Michelle, Lauren and Patric Six, who Mary considered as her own; sister-in-law, Beverly Comer; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly and Peter (PJ), her faithful feline Gulliver and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10 am until the service at 12 noon Saturday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Burial will be follow at Old First Methodist Church Cemetery, West Long Branch. Please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
