Mario P. Falivene, 86, of Long Branch, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his son and daughter-in-law's home in West Long Branch.

He was born in Kearny and lived there before moving to Long Branch.

He was a carpenter working at JC Williams Outdoor Advertising in Asbury Park and then for the Long Branch Board of Education for 15 years before retiring 20 years ago. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish of Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn “Penny” Falivene in 2011 and his parents, Sam and Mary Detrilio Falivene.

Surviving are his children, son, Joseph Falivene and his wife Veronica of West Long Branch and 2 daughters, Maria Falivene-Ferrante and her husband Peter of Sea Girt, Doreen Falivene of Long Branch; brother, Dr. FX Falivene of West Long Branch; sisters, Theresa Caruso and Katherine Hyjeck; 3 grandchildren, Carolyn Falivene-Badal and her husband Nigel,Brittany Falivene and her husband Seth Whitley and Joseph and his wife Melissa Falivene; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 9 pm Tuesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral 9 am Wednesday from the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
