Lawrence J. Diglio, Sr., 92, of Ocean Township, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove.
He was born in Asbury Park and raised in Neptune and graduated from Neptune High School where he was on the golf team. He lived in Ocean Township most of his life.
His love of golf started him working at Hollywood Golf Club after high school. He then was a floor manager at Kay Dunhill in Long Branch. Mr. Diglio was a part owner of Westwood Belt Company in Long Branch before opening Larry's Lunch in Wanamassa. He also worked part time at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport. He was an Army veteran of WW II and received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star along with several other medals. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and a member and former commander of the Catholic War Veterans both in Asbury Park.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gerardo and Adelina Diglio, Sr., grandson, John Kronenberger on Sept. 4, 2012 and brother Ralph Diglio, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Frances Grandinetti Diglio; son, Lawrence Diglio, Jr. and his wife Alexandra of West Long Branch; daughter, Patricia Connelly and her husband Joseph Sr., of Toms River; brothers, Jerry Diglio, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Tinton Falls, Angelo Diglio of Neptune and a sister, Marie Jaeger of Neptune; 6 grandchildren, Jerry, Larry III, David, Clint, Jr., Joe Jr., and Megan and 3 great grandchildren, Jordan, Kaylee and John T.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 9 am Tuesday from the funeral home followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune.
