Joseph A. Sorrentino, 91, of West Long Branch, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013.

He was born and raised in Long Branch. He lived in Oakhurst for 47 years before moving to West Long Branch 8 years ago.

He was a bricklayer for the Bricklayers Union #5 in Long Branch for 20 years before retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park. He was very proud of his service in the US Army during WW II. Joe was interviewed and quoted by author Jay Wertz in his book “D-Day-The Campaign Across France.” Joe enjoyed gardening, golf, oil painting and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Theresa Sorrentino and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa West Sorrentino; son, Raymond Sorrentino of Freehold, daughter, Sandra Krug of Oakhurst; sister-in-law, Marie “Pete” Sorrentino; 5 grandsons, Joseph “Turtle” and Gabriel Sorrentino, and Daniel, Steven and Michael Krug and 4 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 7 pm Thursday the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Friday at the funeral home followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
