Joseph A. Acquaro, 75, of Oceanport, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at home.

Born and Long Branch in 1938 he raised his family in Oceanport.

He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tarawa. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch.

He was married to the love of his life, Jane Ann Castin Acquaro who died in 2003.

Joe was a route salesman for Coca-Cola for 25 years. He then went to work at Fort Monmouth for 10 years as an equipment manager. Joe was also a security guard for 15 years at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport before retiring in 2010

.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jane; son-in-law, Kenneth Throckmorton in 2010 and his mother, Antoinette Zoppi Aria and a brother, Michael Aria.



Surviving are his children, Joseph Acquaro, Annette Throckmorton, Anthony and his wife Donna and Michael and his wife Kathleen; 2 brothers, John and his wife Patricia Aria and Charles Aria and a sister, Carol Mainieri; an aunt, Beatrice Alberti; an uncle, Jerry Zoppi; 9 grandchildren, Christine, Heather, Jennifer, Stevie, Joseph, Michael, Kenny, Anthony and Vincent and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Michael's Church in West End, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to DAV.
