Joan Nancy (nee DiCaro) Famiglietti of Oceanside, California, age 65, passed peacefully on November 23, 2013, at her home from complications due to Pulmonary Hypertension. Her children, Thomas and Andrea were at her bedside. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 21, 1948 to parents Thomas and Phyllis (nee Porcelli) DiCaro. Joan's family moved to New Jersey in 1958, where she graduated from Fort Lee High School in 1966. She then attended Berkeley Business School in New York City graduating with a secretarial degree. She worked for S&H Green Stamps before marrying fellow Fort Lee High alum Richard Famiglietti in 1969. Their son, Thomas, was born that same year and their daughter, Andrea, was born in 1973.

Joan moved to south Jersey, near Philadelphia, after her husband graduated Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1970. In 1976, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Joan was a housewife and devoted mother until both children graduated high school. Unfortunately, divorce ended the marriage in 1990. In 1992, she moved to Virginia where she worked as office manager for the Central Intelligence Agency until 1997, at which time Joan relocated to Melbourne, Florida to begin her retirement. In 2007, she moved to Oceanside, California to be near her children.

Joan is survived by her son, Thomas and his wife Betty of Oceanside, CA; her daughter, Andrea Neri and her husband Carlos of Oceanside, CA; her sister Mary Ann Nahon and her husband Joseph of Scarborough, Maine; her uncle Leonard Porcelli and his wife Joan of Freehold, NJ; and cousins Henrietta, Maria and Mary Ellen.

Joan's enjoyment in life was being a devoted mother. She loved cooking, decorating, reading and music. Her favorite color was pink and roses were her favorite flower. She was loved by many and we will miss her. Joan is at peace now and God has surely lined his highway to Heaven with pink roses to welcome her.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 10 am until 11:30 am at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. For condolences, please visit www.FioreFuneralHomes.com.

Their Message: My deepest condolences on the passing of Joan. We were friends in high school and I have very fond memories of the times we spent together. The last time I spoke to her was the day after our 20th class reunion. She was not there, but I got her number from Richie and the next day we spent hours on the phone - bringing each other up to date and laughing about the times we shared. She was a wonderful warm caring person, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
