Helen C. Polhemus, 89, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch.
She was a born in Norfolk, VA and lived in Rhode Island, California and Oceanport before moving to Oakhurst in 1957.
She was a sales clerk at Daniel's Clothing in Long Branch and for Freedman's Bakery in Oakhurst before retiring. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in West Long Branch where she taught Sunday School and was on the church board and women's ministries. She loved gardening and flowers.
Mrs. Polhemus was predeceased by her husband, Emory Polhemus in 1965, her parents, William and Lucille Nettles and a sister, Thelma Manning.
Surviving are her brother, William Coburn of Rahway, 3 sisters, Josephine Diamond of Marlton, Carole Stavola of Holmdel and Judy and her husband Paul Bills of Oakhurst and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Barnabas Hospice, 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740
