Etalo “Joe” Mermini, 91, of Kenilworth, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Manor-by-the-Sea in Ocean Grove, N.J. He grew up in Newark before moving to Irvington and then settling in Kenilworth for the past 34 years. Mr. Mermini worked for General Motors for 35 years before his retirement in 1979. He enjoyed spending time with his family over a cup of coffee or glass of wine, loved working outside, and creating woodworking projects for his friends and family. He will always be remembered for having a paint brush close by, a toothpick in his pocket, and his colorful stories. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and he will be missed.



He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Angelina; his four children and their spouses, Romeo and Patricia Mermini, Maria and Damiano Binetti, Anthony Mermini, and Joann and Ron Marshall; his five grandchildren, Angela, Denise, Danny, Jennifer, and Lauren, and his five adoring great-grandchildren. Also left to remember are his siblings, Albert, Reno, Louis, Millie, and Carmela. He is preceded in death by his brother Sonny and sister Fran.



Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 11 am on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. Entombment will be at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
