Elena Gallello, 86, of Wayside died on June 14th, 2011.
Born in 1924 in Naples Italy, Elena came to the United States in 1946 to make a new life with her husband Dominic. They settled in the Bronx, NY, moving to Monmouth Beach in 1969 before moving to Wayside in 2002. Like many European immigrants, they treasured their opportunity to live the American dream. Throughout her life, there was nothing more important to her than caring for family and friends. Her kindness was infectious and her cooking was legendary.
Elena was a parishioner of St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church in Wayside.
Elena is survived by her sons Claude and his wife Elia, Carlo and his wife Denise and Dominic and wife Naoe; her 8 grandchildren – Peter and his wife Lara, Elia, David, Richard, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Dominic, Christopher and 4 great grandchildren – Gabriel, Jude, Cody and Christian. She is also survived by her sister Gina Porcù.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Wednesday and Thursday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 10 am Friday from the funeral home followed by an 11 am Funeral Mass at St. Anselm's Church, Wayside. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “The Hungarian Catholic Mission”, 302 Portola Road, Portola Valley, CA 94028. For the benefit of: St. Elena House Romanian Orphanage
