Douglas Francis Bonora, 80, of Oceanport, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2013, with his loving family by his side.



Doug was a dedicated husband and devoted father, who took pride in caring for his family and home. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Patricia and their children Doug (Skip), Lynn, Leslie, Christopher and Tricia; his sons- and daughters-in-law Josephine, Albert, William, Willisa and Jason; his grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Stephen, Kathryn, Matthew, Ryan, Patrick, Samantha, Sheridan, Sadie, Michelle and Gary, and several nieces and nephews.



Doug was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Union Beach, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy. He was a member of the US Army 9th Division, and served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Roofers and Sheetmetal Workers Union, Local 28 for more than 50 years.



Doug enjoyed watching the NY Mets, rooting for the Notre Dame blue and gold, and organizing family trips to Lake George, NY. He loved gardening, fishing, and regaling his family with stories of his boyhood. He coached Little League and Pony teams in Long Branch and Oceanport and was Leader of Boy Scout Troop 78 in Oceanport.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Friday at Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral 10 am Saturday from the funeral home followed by an 11 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
