Chris P. Gicas, 79, of Long Branch, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

He was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and lived in New York City and Tenafly before moving to Long Branch in 1996.

He was a substitute teacher at Rumson-Fair Haven High School and for the Monmouth County Vocational School District for the past 10 years. Prior to that, he was in sales/management for 30 years in the lighting industry before retiring.

He served on the board of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Lambrene Gicas and a sister, Bessie Poppas.

Surviving are his wife, Lynda-Lee Hardy Gicas; sons, Peter and his wife Michelle Gicas of Burbank, CA and Leonard and his wife Yutonya Gicas of Chatham; daughter, Lois and her husband Daniel Alston of Eatontown; brother, Nick and his wife Lorraine Gicas of Galloway Township, brother-in-law, George Poppas of Janesville, WI and 5 grandchildren, Kennedy, Noah, Anya, Maxwell and Harper.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Tuesday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean Township. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in West Long Branch.
