Armand, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Long Branch on October 9, 1935. As an only child he was raised by his loving grandparents and aunt. Watching his handy grandfather as a child, Armand started his passion of “fixing things.” As he grew, he was an apprentice in repair of church organs and pianos. As a master organist repairman he donated much of his time to many local churches in the upkeep and repairs of these precious instruments. Armand was well known in the community as “Fix-it always willing to help, as he always said, “It's more fun working on other peoples projects.”
He was employed with NJ Bell Telephone Company for 36 years before retiring in 1987. He served in the US Army.
Armand was predeceased by his parents, Axel and Bertha Layer Goldager, his grandparents, Samuel and Musetta Layer and his aunt, Geneva Layer.
