"What cant be cured must be endured". Carolyn McCotter Woolley, wife of the late Alfred M. Woolley, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the age of 99. She was predeceased by her daughter the late Karen Shatto, her granddaughter, Leigh Shatto, her brother, Albert McCotter and her beloved sisters, Barbara Johnson and Rhoda "Ginny" Peters. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons and their wives Michael and Mary Woolley of Haddonfield, Peter and Beth Woolley of Deal, her son-in-law Ronald Shatto of West Long Branch,11 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Along with her husband, Alfred (who she fondly called Bill), Carolyn spent most of her life in the Ocean Township. The wind beneath Als wings in his numerous roles, among them Mayor, Fire Chief and head of the Chamber of Commerce, she gave back to her community through their involvement in numerous civic and social activities. Her greatest passion however, was her role as the matriarch of their large and loving family. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and was a member of several local garden clubs. She surrounded her home with flowers, antiques and her handcrafted artistry. Among some of her finest artistic creations were the numerous personalized quilts that she designed and crafted for her loved ones along with her unique and varied creations in the medium of felt. She was the oldest freeloading family member of the Takanassee Beach Club and was there from its start in 1931. An avid card player, we are sure she is in heaven now, fixing tea sandwiches for bridge club with her sister Ginny. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 2 pm at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, followed by interment at Glenwood Cemetery in West Long Branch. Carolyn loved flowers, so the Woolley Family asks that you support your local florist or in lieu of flowers they ask that you make your donations in Carolyns memory to the "Eden Woolley House" Township of Ocean Historical Association, P.O. Box 516, Oakhurst, NJ 07755. Please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com
