Anthony “Chubby” Chiafullo, 76, a lifelong resident of Long Branch, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He was a cook at Patterson Army Hospital at Fort Monmouth prior to running the family business, Tony's Tomato Pies in Long Branch since 1963. His parents opened the restaurant in 1930 and it has been a Long Branch landmark for the past 82 years.
Chubby was an honorary member of the Independent Fire Company of the Long Branch Fire Department and the Long Branch and Elberon First Aid Squads, he was an honorary Silver Life Card holder of the New Jersey State PBA through the Long Branch PBA #10 and was an honorary Long Branch Police Officer, Badge #106. Chubby was a retired Monmouth County Deputy Sheriff. He was a life member of the Long Branch Elks and IAMA, a member of the Amerigo Vespucci Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 335 all of Long Branch. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Anna Papa Chiafullo; brother, Patsy Chiafullo and sister, Theresa DiGeralamo and his father-in-law, Philip Meola.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Etta Meola Chiafullo; daughter, Gina Ann Chiafullo and her partner Donna Traversa of Tinton Falls, son, Anthony Chiafullo and his partner Adam Gindi of Monmouth Beach; sister, Mary Rego of West Long Branch; 2 grandchildren, Frances Etta and Zachary Aaron; his mother-in-law, Florence Meola of Long Branch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Joseph Meola of Flemington, Eileen and Paul Rolleri of Oceanport and Debbie and John Perri of Long Branch and caretaker, Barbara.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from noon to 3 pm and 5 to 9 pm Tuesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 9 am Wednesday from the funeral home followed by at 10:30 am Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
