Andrew F. Cirlincione, 92, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born and raised in Newark and moved to Oakhurst 51 years ago.
He was a police officer for the City of Newark for 26 years before retiring in 1974. He was instrumental in saving four young children from drowning in the West Side Park Lake in Newark and was awarded a Medal of Merit, Outstanding Feat of Valor from the Newark Lions Club, Heroism in the line of duty from Frontiers International, and the NJ State Fraternal
Order of Police awarded for meritorious service for his heroic effort. During his career as a police officer he helped deliver 14 babies. After his retiring he became a Principal Investigator for Monmouth County Public Defenders in Freehold for 23 years retiring in 1997.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park and a past president of the Public Defenders Association.
He served in the US Army/Air Force during WW II where he was crew chief of P-51 Mustangs and P-38 Lightnings in England and Germany.

He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Luella Van Duyne Cirlincione, and his brother Vincent Cirlin.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years Mary Bongiovanni Cirlincione, his children Ronald Cirlincione and his wife Trudy, Drew Cirlincione and his wife Mary, JoEllen Petronzi, Nick Cirlincione and his wife Jennifer and Mark Cirlincione and his wife Anne; brother, Charles Cirlin, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral 9 am Thursday from the funeral home followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Asbury Park. Burial will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
