Alberto T. Doode, MD, 66 of Tinton Falls, Died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.
He was born in Mexico City, Mexico and lived in Canada and in Allenhurst before moving to Tinton Falls 8 years ago.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in 1968. He was an instructor of Histology and Embryology from 1965 to 1966.
He completed his undergraduate 5th year of clinical medicine at Toronto University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, during which he served as rotating internist in 1967.
In 1968 he was assigned to the Federal Mexican Government Social Medical Service for one year and then moved on to become a Junior Instructor in Medicine at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario.
In 1969 he began his medical internship at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch and in 1968 he began his residency in Internal Medicine and Hematology and Oncology. From 1972 to 1973 he served as Chief Resident in Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center.
In 1974 he commenced his private practice in Ocean Township, NJ. In 1979 he was elected to serve as Attending Physician at Monmouth Medical Center and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. He also served as Co-Chairman of Oncology from 1978 to 1984 and in 1975 he was elected as Teaching Fellow of the Family Practice Department at Monmouth Medical Center.
In 1972 he received the Borden Award for Best Internist in Medicine and in 1973 he received the Borden Award for Best Resident in Internal Medicine for three years.
Dr. Doode was an avid teacher, a gifted artist and a pianist who devoted his life to caring for his patients.
Dr. Doode was predeceased by his father, Matsuo Doode and his sister, Olga Shoko Doode, PhD.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Maureen Conlin Doode; daughter, Lisa and her husband, Michael McGowan of Ocean Township; his mother, Sara Doode and a brother, Jesus Katsu Doode, MD both of Mexico.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from noon to 4 pm and attend services at 3:30 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
