Obituary for Matthew S. Bregoff

Matthew S. Bregoff, 79, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 with his daughter and wife by his side. He was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and went on to live in West New York, Oakland and Montclair with his family and Florham Park before moving to Oakhurst in 2001.

He was a graduate of Wagner College with a BA in Physics and went on to have a long, enjoyable career as an aerospace engineer. His last position before retiring was for Smiths Industries in Florham Park. He was an avid amateur radio operator (W2AOJ) and has volunteered for Meals On Wheels in recent years.

He was known by his family and friends as being a warm, sweet, generous man with a quirky sense of humor and fearless driving skills. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorlene Marie Cooper Bregoff in 1996 and his parents, Spencer and Hattie Bregoff.

Surviving are his wife, Dr. Sandra Elias; daughter, Andrea Bregoff Thomson and her husband Kevin; step-children, David Elias, Dawn Elias and Dale Cupo; sister, Jackie Milstein and nine grandchildren, Alexander and Murray Thomson, Kirsten and Michael Schenk, Ryan, Danielle and Benjamin Cupo and Jacob and Emily Elias.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit and attend a memorial service from 2:00-3:00pm on Monday August 8th at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The American Heart Association.
