Obituary for Stavros Kargas

Stavros  Kargas
Stavros Kargas, 92, of Colts Neck, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chios, Greece, he was a veteran of the Greek Army, fighting in World War II with the Allied Forces. He immigrated to New Jersey in 1967 with his family, where he resumed the career he left behind in Greece as a chef. His passion for cooking and baking continued after his retirement, evidenced by a never-ending assortment of his well-known dishes, cookies, and bread that he would always make for his loved ones.

He is predeceased by his wife, Angeliki. He is survived by his two daughters, Theano Kapsaskis and her husband Dennis of Colts Neck, Maria Gonzalez and her husband Jose of Toms River, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Ocean Township. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Ocean Township. Interment will follow at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Neptune. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund www.stgeorgeap.org.
