Obituary for Alwin Arlt

Alwin Arlt, 90, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

He was born in Kolepant, Germany and lived in Crete, Nebraska and Long Branch before moving to Oakhurst in 1959.

He was a self-employed mason starting as an apprentice in 1938. He was a medic in the German Navy during WW II. He was secretary/treasurer of the New Era Monument Benevolent Association in West Long Branch.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret on July 27, 2014.

Surviving are his son, Edgar and his wife Maryann Arlt of Oceanport; daughter, Edith Arlt of NJ; 6 grandchildren, Edgar Arlt, Jr., Richard and his wife Sherry Arlt, Sharon and her husband Michael Folk, Barbara Martin, David Welsh and Athena Abatecola and 6 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail Arlt, Michael and Samantha Folk and Amanda and Ashley Martin and several nieces and nephews here and in Germany.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12:30 to 2:30 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
