Obituary for William "Billy" Deitrich

Bill Deitrich, 69, of Long Branch, entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2018 in New York City. He was the third child of Willard H. Deitrich and Helen (Martin) Deitrich born on May 5, 1949 in Jersey City, NJ. Bill spent his childhood in Bayonne, NJ, attending PS #3 and Bayonne High School. He graduated from Jersey City State.
Bill found his home in Long Branch, NJ. He loved his independent life in this shore community where he could pursue his interests in fishing, especially at the Manasquan Reservoir, where he found peace and solitude and even caught a few fish.
He was a local music enthusiast and could be found with his dear transplanted friends from Bayonne at large and small venues in the shore region. Bill’s other interests included European sports cars. Go Jets, Yankees and Knicks!
Bill had a 35-year career as a truck trailer salesperson extraordinaire; primarily for the STRICK Corporation. His primary responsibility was the Northeast US and parts of eastern Canada. He loved his profession and his many wonderful associates in the trucking industry. His success in the business brought him accolades and a comfortable life.
Bill is survived by his loving brother, Bob Deitrich and wife, Mary Lou; sister-in-law, JoAnn Deitrich; his dedicated nephews and niece, Thomas Geerin and his wife, Marie, and their 3 daughters, Melissa Landante (Mark), Amy Mac Intyre (Tom), Vanessa DeAngelo (Albert) and their children; his nephew, Eric Deitrich and wife, Marcella, and their children, Evan and Sophia and his loving niece, Dawn Deitrich and her son, Alex. He is also survived by nephew, Timothy Geerin and wife, Claudia and children, Timothy, Kelly, Emma and Ryan.
Bill leaves behind a tight knit group of life-long friends in the region that he always considered family. He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Jane Geerin and brothers, Thomas B. Geerin and Richard J. Deitrich.
A memorial visitation will be held at Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch, NJ on Sunday, November 4 from 2 to 5 pm and a Mass at St. Jerome’s Church, 254 Wall Street, West Long Branch, NJ on Monday, November 5 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Monmouth County ASPCA, 260 Wall St
