Obituary for Timothy M. Campbell

Timothy Campbell, 44, of Matawan, died on Sunday, September 4, 2022 surrounded by family. Tim was born on August 30, 1978 in Beckley, West Virginia to J. Michael & Wendy Campbell. He was joined by his two brothers (and best friends), Jon and Josh Campbell. Growing up in Carrollton, Kentucky, Tim and his brothers did their best to keep their parents’ lives exciting and full of love. Tim graduated Queens College (which he would remind you is now called Queens University) in 2000 with a degree in psychology, but more importantly with a collection of lifelong friends who described Tim as one of the kindest, most generous people they have ever met. Tim was a die-hard sports fan and never lost faith in his beloved Cincinnati Bearcats (WOOO!)

Shortly after relocating to New Jersey for a job with Ferguson, Tim met and married his former wife and the mother of his children, Sara Campbell. In 2008, they welcomed Tim’s favorite girl, Grace Ann Campbell who quickly wrapped her father around her tiny finger. Tim quickly became an expert in Disney princesses, Dora the Explorer, and dress up clothes. Their family was completed when Tim’s best buddy, Lonnie Campbell, was born in 2012. Tim was thrilled to add Hot Wheels, Ninja Turtles and Super Mario to his daily schedule. Tim did a lot of things extraordinarily well in his life, but he was best known for being a wonderful father.

In 2007, Tim took a job working at the Monmouth County Courthouse as a probation officer and was promoted to senior probation officer. He was in the 15th year of his career at the time of his death. Tim was very well liked and respected by everyone he came across. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. Tim found a second home at the courthouse and the friends there that became family will greatly miss him.

Tim is survived by his former wife and forever friend, Sara Kennedy Campbell and their beautiful children Grace Ann and Lonnie; his loving parents, Michael and Wendy Campbell; his younger brothers and sisters-in-law Jon & Alyssa Campbell and Josh & Mayra Campbell; his loving grandfather, Merle Brouse; his aunt and uncle Lorrie Brouse Piazza & Rich Piazza; his uncle, Dennis Brouse; his in-laws, Lonnie and Susan Kennedy; his grandfather-in-law, Frank Graziano; his brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph & Kristine Kennedy, Terry & Amanda Kennedy, Vincent & Elizabet Kennedy and James & Victoria Kennedy; his nieces and nephews, Lily and Jade Campbell, Luke and Emily Kennedy, and Serafina and Francis Kennedy; and many, many New Jersey aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Dick and Mary Ann Roberts; his grandmother, June Brouse; and his grandmother-in-law, Jane Graziano.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the care of Tim’s children. Checks may be written to Grace and Lonnie Campbell.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Thursday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 am Friday at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Long Branch. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch. In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the care of Tim’s children. Checks may be written to Grace and Lonnie Campbell.
