Obituary for Ruth A. Young

Ruth E. Young of Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 93, on Monday, September 4, 2023. Ruth was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 10, 1930 to George and Anna Ernish. She attended Perth Amboy High School and Berkeley College of Business in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Thomas Young, parents George and Anna Ernish, and twin sister, Eleanor Seely. Ruth met her husband Arthur in high school. They married on September 6, 1952 and traveled the country while Arthur served as an officer in the United States Air Force. For 34 years, they generously shared their home with family and friends, creating a lifetime of memories and bonds. Ruth was an avid golfer and known to be club champion at Bamm Hollow Country Club in Lincroft, New Jersey, where she proudly achieved two holes-in-one. Ruth loved her home on the Shrewsbury River, the beauty of being on the water, and watching the swans, ospreys, and other wildlife. Ruth led a beautiful life filled with faith, friends, and family. She will be remembered for her sparkling blue eyes, natural beauty, perfect wardrobe, intelligence, wisdom, and kindness. Ruth was an eternal optimist, and source of love and light for everyone around her. Ruth’s positive attitude was matched with her spirit of nurturing friendships, care, and service to others in her community. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Kimblerly, and son-in-law, Gary, of Oceanport, New Jersey, and her son, Jonathan of Santa Cruz, California, and seven grandchildren, Aidan, Ren, Robin, Amy, Liam, Willa, and Finch, and great-granddaughter, Sofia.
A celebration of her life took place with family on September 9, 2023. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. With respect to Ruth’s wishes, a private burial will take place with family later that day.
