Obituary for Robert R Rizzo
Robert R. Rizzo, 86, of Wanamassa, Ocean Township, NJ entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 12, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided there before moving to Wanamassa in 1997.
Mr. Rizzo worked as a Longshoreman with the ILA Local #1814 in Brooklyn and retired in 1989. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Asbury Park, NJ, the Knights of Columbus Council in Neptune and the Knights of Columbus, Baron De Kalb Council in Brooklyn. He was also the founder and past president of the John D’Emic Roller Hockey League and a former Vice Chairman of the Community Board #7 both in Brooklyn.
Mr. Rizzo was pre-deceased by his wife, Theresa M. Rizzo in 2012, his son, Richard in 1992, his parents; Rocco and Josephine Rizzo, a brother and three sisters. His is survived by his sons; Joseph Rizzo of West New York, NJ and Robert Rizzo of Brooklyn, NY and a granddaughter, Theresa Rizzo.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township, NJ on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church of the Mother of Mercy Parish, Asbury Park, NJ. Interment will follow in the Green-wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
