Obituary for Raymond R Ronan

Raymond Ronan of Oakhurst, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 8, 2019. Known to friends as Rick; he was born on September 2, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ.
Rick attended All Saints Grammar School, where he was a classmate of Alice Andrukitis. He then attended St Peter's Prep in Jersey City. After graduation, Rick began what was his lifelong career with Burlington Industries. He started in the mailroom and 40 years later, retired as Director of Operations for the Industrial Fabrics Division.
His tenure at Burlington was interrupted in January 1951 when he joined the United States Marine Corps due to the Korean War. In March 1952, prior to deployment to Korea, he married his prep school sweetheart Alice. Rick was badly wounded in combat in October 1952. Upon honorable discharge from the USMC, he attended and graduated St Peters College; while also resuming his career at Burlington Industries. Along the way; he and Alice raised 4 sons; first living in Jersey City, then Hazlet, and finally moving to Oakhurst, NJ in 1964.
A loyal friend, devoted husband and father, Rick will be missed by all. He was predeceased by Alice in November last year, after 66 years of marriage. Rick is survived by his sister Ann and her husband Joe; sisters-in-law Dolores and Joan, brother-in-law Paul, as well as his four sons: Keith and wife Diane, East Brunswick; Kevin, Jackson; Douglas and wife Claudia, Eatontown; David and wife Linda, Freehold. Rick and Alice were loved by their twelve Grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
At Rick’s request, services will be private. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice or; to the Salvation Army.
