Obituary for Peter Quilico

Peter Quilico, 91, of Long Branch, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at home.

Although he was born in Cokeville, PA, he spent the majority of his youth in Blairsville, PA before moving to Long Branch.
He met his wife while serving in the US Army in Italy during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Italy), Purple Heart and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars and was honorably discharged in 1948. After leaving the Army, he worked as a self-employed electrician before becoming a heavy equipment operator for the US Naval Ammunition Depot Earle, retiring in 1966. He went on to become both full-time and part-time Code Enforcement Officer for the towns of Long Branch, Tinton Falls, Oceanport and West Long Branch, finally retiring in 1992.
He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church (Christ the King Parish) in Long Branch and a member of the Long Branch Senior Center. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Long Branch Elks Lodge #742. He was a fan of amateur radio (N2ICY), the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NY Giants and the NY Mets. He loved dogs and children and would always have a ready smile for them. In the evening, he enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with his daughter.
He was predeceased by his wife Hilda Ida Quilico in 2008; his parents, Andrew and Angeline Quilico; sister, Lucy Martini and brothers, John and Joakim “Jack” Quilico.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Gary Standorf of Tinton Falls and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 am Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to the SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
