Penelope Karagias Toomim, 62, of Treadwill, NY, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023. Penny was born on August 21, 1960. She attended Deal School and Red Bank Catholic High School where she had many friends. As a teenager, Penny enjoyed working at both Perkin’s Pancake House and Criterion Candies, both family businesses. After graduating from the University of Maryland, she married D. Roddy Toomim and settled in Houston, Texas. There she continued her education at the University of Houston. Penny was a very talented artist who made everything from pottery to mosaics; also, she loved gardening, cooking and baking.

Penny was predeceased by her husband, D. Roddy and her loving son, Joshua.

She is survived by her parents, Helen and Demetri Karagias; her mother-in-law, Shirley Toomim; her son, Nick Toomim; her daughter and son-in-law, Caitlin and Eli Niskala and 3 grandchildren, Shavah, Asaph and Chemdah; her brother, Paul Karagias; her sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Tony Siciliano; her sister-in-law and husband, Ellen and Steve Robinson and many nieces and nephews.
