Obituary for Paul Hanisch

OCEANPORT – Paul Hanisch, 83, of Oceanport, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at home.
He was born in Long Branch and lived in Oakhurst, Ocean Township before moving to Oceanport.
He retired a supervisor of building and grounds for the Township of Ocean after 20 years. Paul was an honorary member of Port-au-Peck Fire Company and the Fire Police in Oceanport; life-member of the Oakhurst Independent Hose Company #1 where he served as Chief in 1974 and president in 1975 and 2014. He was also captain of the Fire Police in Oakhurst. He served in the US Marines.
He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch. He was a graduate of Long Branch High School in 1951 and was an avid gardener.
He was predeceased by his wives, Madeline and Stella; his parents, Frank and Gertrude Hanisch and brothers, Frank, James and twin Ronald Hanisch.
Surviving are his wife Marie Kane Hanisch; children, Michele (Peter) Ciacma, Sean Fischer, Susan (Pat) Forenzo and David, Daniel and Philip Bruve; grandchildren, Natalie, Dylan and Chloe; sister-in-law, Mildred Hanisch; niece, Melinda (James) McCloskey; and great-nephews, Brendan and Jonathan McCloskey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Michael’s Church in Long Branch. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
