Mario A. Smeriglio, Jr., 86, of Long Branch, who’s favorite quote was “It is better to give than receive” passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
He was born in Garfield and was a lifelong resident of Long Branch.
He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish of Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch, president of Paramount Cab Company and a member of Long Branch Fire Department Oceanic Firehouse. He was a 1949 graduate of Long Branch High School.
He was an owner of Spot 1 at Paramount Cab Company in Long Branch retiring in 2000.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Lucia Smeriglio in 2014; his son, Mario A. Smeriglio III in 2000.
Surviving are his daughters, Theresa Smeriglio, Marion and her husband Tommy Meares and Cathy Smeriglio; sister, Nancy Izzi and 3 brothers, John, Willie and Frankie Smeriglio; 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild due in November.
