Margaret Shaw, 90, died November 5, 2010, surrounded by family in her daughter's home.

Born December 10, 1919 in Richmond, VA to Margaret and James Conlon, Marge relocated to Kearny NJ, where she raised her 5 children and also worked in the Youth World.

Marge retired to Oceanport in 1977 with her husband Sumner where they enjoyed the beach, ocean, and family. She could stay in the waves for hours with her children and grandchildren. Marge was a devoted and deeply religious Catholic and was a communicant at St. Dorothea's Church in Eatontown. She loved holiday gatherings, the banter, the laughter, the togetherness, the tasty food. Mostly, she loved her husband Sumner Shaw, who told her on their first date that he would one day marry her. They showed the world what love is.

Last year on Marge's 90th birthday, a celebration was held, with Marge happily surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her family dearly, as they love her.

Marge is predeceased by her parents, Margaret and James Conlon; her beloved husband of 48 years, Sumner Shaw; her brothers, James, Robert, and John Conlon; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Conlon; her brother-in-law, Thomas McKeon; her sons-in-law, Gary Fichter and Dick Bertodatti; and her precious great-grandson, Alex Bertodatti. They will be there to greet and welcome her.

She leaves behind her sisters, Elizabeth McKeon of Maryland, Jane Ulrich and her husband George of Syracuse, Norma Conlon of North Arlington, and Virginia Conlon of Rutherford; her daughters, Dianne Fichter of Oceanport, Maureen Bertodatti of Colts Neck, Peggy Maher and her husband Wayne of Tinton Falls; her sons, Robert Shaw of Whiting and Kenneth Shaw and his wife Sheila of Oakhurst. She leaves 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and countless nieces and nephews, all beloved.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral 10 am Tuesday from the funeral home followed by an 11:15 am Funeral Mass at St. Dorothea's Church, 240 Broad Street, Eatontown. Please consider organ donation.
