Joyce A. Fitzgerald, 78, a long-time resident of Long Branch, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26th, 2019 at Genesis Health Care, Eatontown. Joyce enjoyed a lengthy career at Saker World Class Shop Rite, working at numerous locations throughout her tenure. She took great pride in being one of the first women promoted to the role of Appetizing Department Manager. In her downtime, Joyce enjoyed dining out with friends and going to the movies. She was a lover of sports, the Jets and Mets especially, and a bit of a car buff, always taking great pains to make sure her late-model sedan was shined to perfection. She had a soft spot for animals, particularly her beloved pets Barney, Fluff and Ben. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Fitzgerald, and her brothers, George Jr. and Edward. She is survived by many close friends — Patti Rispoli, Sharon Lang, Marlene Rucker, Maria Bauman and Jen Wilson — who shared in her care, comfort and companionship. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
