Obituary for Joseph L. Camagna

Joseph L. Camagna, 95, of Oceanport, peacefully entered into eternal rest at home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 surrounded by his family. Born in Coatsville, PA, he was raised in Philadelphia and was a longtime resident of Long Branch before moving to Oceanport in 1983.
He worked at Fort Monmouth as an engineer for 40 years before retiring in 1981.He served in the US Army during WWII from 1942 through 1945 in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (Christ the King Parish), a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #742 and Veterans Of Foreign War Post #2140 all of Long Branch.
He was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Lena Camagna; his wife of 62 years, Josephine B. Camagna in 2005; three brothers, Harry, Albert and Louis Camagna; his Grandson, Steven Camagna in 1997 and his “son-in-law”, Harvey “Ross” Shiffler in 2014.
Surviving are a sister, Gloria and her husband Chuck Dayhoff; three children, Joseph Camagna of Huntsville, AL; Dolores Basile of West Long Branch and Rosalie and her husband Jeff Sims of Long Branch; five grandchildren, Michael Basile and his wife Michele, Sharon and her husband Ken Shields, Jennifer and her husband Lou Carretta, Arlana and her husband Jason Johnson and Sirena and her husband Chris Brock; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jaiden, Makayla, Mia, Sonny, Brooks, Helen and Bennett; many nieces and nephews and dearest friends, Carol and Jimmy Squillante and Louie Sestito
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 1-5 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday at the funeral home followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
