Obituary for Jonathan E. Rahal

Jonathan Edward Rahal was born in Staten Island, New York, on April 20, 1986. In 1996, he moved to Ocean Township, New Jersey, and resided there since. He died peacefully and loved on June 18, 2022.

Jonathan was known for his big heart and even bigger personality. He loved his family dearly and treasured his bonds with them. As a friend, he was described as loving, loyal, charming, witty, animated and entertaining. He was the life of the party. His parents and siblings knew him as Jonathan, his friends as Jonny or Rahal, and his beloved nephew as Tio Jonny.

Jonathan completed an associates degree in Psychology from Brookdale Community College. He also received a culinary degree from The International Culinary Center in New York, NY. Although he had experience managing restaurants and working as a chef, Jonathan would most proudly consider himself a Master Pizzaiolo, a chef who specializes in pizza. He created a variety of menus and original recipes for dough, sauce, and cheese for pizzerias and restaurants in the Jersey Shore area. He was the creator of the locally known “Upside-down Pizza,” which is a New York-style pie with cheese on the dough and the tomato sauce covering the cheese.

Jonathan had recently begun to explore a career in acting. While doing local theater, he quickly landed a reenactment role of Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano in an ABC News primetime documentary, Truth and Lies: The Last Gangster. He also shot roles in feature films currently in production.

As a fitness and boxing enthusiast, Jonathan was a member of the U.S.A. Amateur Boxing program. He trained other amateur fighters, providing them with technical skills and, as a certified personal trainer, creating customized nutritional plans for each one of them. He loved attending matches, during which he would meet many boxing personalities who could not help but be attracted to his energy and charm.

How Jonathan loved music! He owned hundreds of Hip Hop and Rap CDs. His favorite rap group was the Wu-Tang Clan. He endearingly sported their clothing line, Wu Wear, always with matching tracksuits, hats, and shoes.

Jonathan is survived by his parents, Dr. William Rahal and Evelyn Rahal, his two siblings, William Rahal and George Rahal, his grandmother, Rosa De Dawson, his sister-in-law, Roxana De Franco, his nephew, Alexander Rahal, as well as uncles, cousins, friends and other loved ones. He enchanted all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ on Saturday, June 25, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
