John L. Wengler, 90, of Interlaken, died on Monday February 27, 2023 after a brief illness. He was a graduate of Asbury Park High School, Georgetown University, and the University of Virginia. Mr. Wengler began his career in education as a science teacher at Manasquan High School and at his retirement was a guidance counselor at Ocean Township High School. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption in Deal, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents Ludwig and Elizabeth (Bariscillo); his wife Jean (Rutherford); and his son John R. Wengler. He is survived by his daughter Elisabeth Wengler and three grand-daughters, Allison, Victoria, and Stephanie Wengler. There will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Friday March 3, 2023. St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Deal. John will be buried next to his wife and son. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Of Hope Parish. ( St. Mary of The Assumption ).
