Obituary for John M. Mattaliano

John M. Mattaliano of Belmar, after 74 blessed and courageous years, passed peacefully early in the morning of Monday, April 24, 2023. He rejoined his parents, dearest relatives and friends. From his earlier years as a young man serving our country and navigating life as a newly wed to his post retirement years, John has always been an incredibly independent and wonderfully generous soul.
He began his career working in various roles in information technology including as the Chief Information Officer of an international watch company and a mid-size advertising agency. Additionally, his career included consulting roles in worldwide financial service organizations and prescription benefit management. To John anything worth doing was worth doing right. He embodied the value of hard work and led by that example. As comfortable in a boardroom as he was on a job site, John was a true friend to those who knew him.
John is remembered for his immense love for and involvement with his family. His strength and perseverance through life’s challenges were an inspiration to his family, who looked to him for guidance and wisdom. His family feels blessed and thankful for the many wonderful meals, fun games, and life’s milestones they shared with him. They are certain his generous love and spirit will live on in our family.
He was a communicant of St. Rose Roman Catholic Church in Belmar and a member of the Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean.
He is survived by his soul mate, Barbara, his sons John and Michael, his daughters-in-law Marisol and Lauren and his grandchildren Laura, Francesca, and Michael Luca; his brothers, Peter, Bart and Gerry and his sisters-in-law, Nancy and Mary and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 3-6 pm Thursday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Friday at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery.
