Obituary for John J Hanlon

John J. Hanlon, 84, of Oakhurst, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 after battling a long-term illness. John was predeceased by his brothers Terry and Joe, his sister Pat, and his daughter, Debbie.

John loved his family, friends, camping, fishing and was a talented woodworker who built beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, followed by a career at Jersey Central Power & Light in Allenhurst for 33 years. Upon retirement he worked at TDK-Lambda Americas in Neptune.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia; two daughters, Dawn Cimino & her husband Fred; Laurie; a son John Jr. & his wife Barbara; five grandchildren Fred Cimino & his wife Mandy, Andrea Mone & her husband Dave, Mark Cimino & his wife Sara, Kristen, and John III; two great-grandchildren Zander and Jasper Mone; and two brothers Bob & his wife Pat, and Bill.

John’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hope Tower medical staff at Jersey Shore University Medical Center; two neighbors, Ave and Anthony, who turned into very dear friends; Ron, Joe and Jim who were a part of John’s long-time “dinner club;” and Joanne, Frank and Tom who were always there for John when he needed them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
