His talents and kindness extended to his career in the medical field. A trained medical doctor, John was a compassionate healthcare professional and patient advocate at medical institutions in New York and New Jersey. He served as vice president, operations, at Princeton Care Center in Princeton, before retiring in 2018. He was previously director of Outreach Admissions at New York University Langone Medical Center, Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, New York.

John received a Doctorate degree of Medicine from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy. He earned an Associate degree of Science, Respiratory Therapy, from the California College of Health Sciences, National City, California. John received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey, and earned Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

John was predeceased by his mother, Margherita (Dante), and his father, John Devone. He is survived by his life partner, Virginia Mesz, her children Amanda Nixon (Todd) and Mackenzie Wechsler (Glenn), and their children, Kylie, Kash, and Arianna; son JW Mesz (Andrea); his uncle George A. Dante; and many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 1-4 PM at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
