James Whitlock, 72, of Ocean Township, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at home.

He was born in Bronx, NY and lived there and in Brooklyn and Englewood before moving to Ocean in 1976.

He was in the food industry and was Vice-President of Associated Brands, President of AJ Sales and CEO of James Packaging all in Ocean Township.

He was a member of Deal Golf & Country Club where he was a past president, past chairman of the Greens Committee, club champion in 1990 and a 2 time NJ State Father and Son champion. He was a veteran of US Marine Corps and was an expert rifleman and a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch.



He was predeceased by his step-father, Ted Lord, father-in-law, William Ficks and nephew, Greg Zarcone

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Joan Ficks Whitlock; mother, Helen Lord, mother-in-law, Madelon Ficks; children, Janet and her husband Norman Dahl, Brett and his wife Renee Ernish and A. James Whitlock, Jr., 3 grandchildren, Sydney, Sawyer and Emerson; cousin, Marilyn Blazovsky; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces nephews and friends.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10:30 am St. Michael's Church, West End, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
