Obituary for Jacqueline E. Capestro

Neptune, NJ – On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Jacqueline “Jackie” Capestro departed for her final journey, leaving her home in Neptune, NJ, and arriving restored, whole, and limitless at Heaven's gates. There she joyfully reunited with her mothers and father, Genevieve (Flint), Mildred (Megill) and John Youngs; sisters, Jane (and Pete) West, Patricia Ann, and Genevieve (and Tom) Barbur; husband and son, Jack and Robert Capestro; and many dear friends. Born in Neptune, Jackie was raised in Lakewood and Ocean Grove and graduated as part of Neptune High School's Class of 1953. She worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth before marrying, then returned to the workforce in 1983 managing medical offices in Asbury Park and Neptune before retiring in 1995. In her 86 years, she never resided more than 10 miles from her beloved Jersey Shore, having previously lived in Shark River Hills, Wayside, Avon, and Bradley Beach. Jackie's greatest joys were found in her faith and her family. Her love for her mom, sisters, children, and grandchildren was immeasurable. Her favorite pastimes were a good book on the beach, dancing, gardening, home improvement projects, thrift-store fashion, a good game of chess, and cooking for family and friends. A hot cup of tea or a cool glass of wine could solve any problem and make any day better in Jackie's house. From May to November, if it weren't raining, you'd find her at the beach with a good book and good friends. When she wasn't at the beach, she was outside in her garden or flower beds. She loved traveling with her friends and celebrating life with her neighbors and church family. She loved everyone she met and found great joy in doing and caring for others. Later in life, she became an armchair survivalist. Her favorite shows were Naked and Afraid, Homestead Rescue, Alaska Last Frontier, and Dr. Pol. She promised that she would be back as a homesteading veterinarian based in Alaska in her next life. She was a dreamer, a doer, a rebel, and a rule breaker. She never left the house without lipstick and was never without a tissue up a sleeve or in a pocket. She was a strong and independent woman, sassy and feisty and tireless. She was a fighter to the end. She is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Capestro, Sheryl (and Wayne) Charpie, and Melissa Capestro; her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Galino Capestro; and her beloved grandchildren, Kelsey, Todd, Christopher, and Precious. Jackie will be laid to rest alongside her twin sister, Gennie, at the Memorial Garden at St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Spring Lake, New Jersey.
