John R. “Jack” Piantanida, 79, of Howell, died August 29, 2013 at home
Born in Long Branch, Jack spent most of his life in West Long Branch. Jack served in the National Guard then worked in the family business, “Shore Landscaping Service” where he became a partner. He was a member of the Eatontown Elks Lodge #2402. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and listening to country music. Jack was also an avid golfer for many years.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Jennie (Chidnese) Piantanida, Parents, Jack L. Piantanida and Eunice (Hurley) Piantanida, daughter, Eunice (Piantanida) Whitesell, longtime companion, Beverley Neale, sister, Grace Arnold and brother, Gary Piantanida.
Survived by in Jack's words, “the best son and daughter a father could hope for,” son, John (Jack) Piantanida and his wife Charlene; daughter and caregiver, Cindy Gil and husband Brian; beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Whitesell, Stephanie and Alan Sniffen, John R. Piantanida II, Courtney, Danny and Emily Gil, Heather Turner and Chelsea Ceaglio; great- grandchildren, Glen Morris III and Addison Sniffen. Jack is also survived by three brothers, James, Donald, and Robert Piantanida and sister, Cara Massaro. Extended family, Beverly's son and daughter-in-law Richie and Carol Neale, children Richie Jr. and Renee (Neale) DaSilva, grandchildren Jack and Richie DaSilva.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday at Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
