Obituary for Hippocrates G Psyras

Hippocrates (Cy) Psyras (October 21, 1928 - August 10, 2022) of Colts Neck, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with the love and support of his family. Cy was a beloved father, son, brother, and husband. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents Olga and George Psyras on October 21, 1928. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, where his mother raised Cy and his brother Louis after losing their father at a young age. Cy graduated from Boston Technical High School, Boston; Northeastern University, Boston in 1952 with a BS in Chemical Engineering and furthered his studies obtaining an MBA from Seton Hall in 1965. Between undergraduate and graduate studies, he served in the US Army as a Technical Specialist until 1957 when he was discharged having earned a Good Conduct Medal. Early in his career, he worked in the chemical industry in engineering and management roles. In 1973, he founded a technical and financial consulting company which he ran for over 30 years. He married his wife Helen in 1958, and raised their two daughters in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, before moving to Edison and Brick, New Jersey for retirement, and later to Shrewsbury and Colts Neck at Brandywine Senior Living. He loved and dedicated himself to his family and his business throughout his life, and devoted his energy in later years to caring for his wife Helen until she passed away on July 7, 2017. He is forever loved and will be greatly missed by his surviving family: daughter Diana Psyras and son-in-law Jim Ward; daughter Stephanie Parlamas, son-in-law Markos Parlamas and grandsons George & Steven.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral service at 10am Saturday August 13 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Ocean Township. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
